Some Affirmations For Anyone Who Feels Overwhelmed Right Now 🤍
'Be patient with yourself. Be compassionate. Give yourself the understanding you so freely give to others.'
Welcome to the Collective World X Thought Catalog Newsletter. Collective World is a one-of-a-kind creative network powered by the minds and voices behind The Thought & Expression Company. We’re so glad you’re here.
It’s okay if you feel overwhelmed right now.
It’s okay if you feel like you keep making mistakes and getting things wrong.
It’s okay if your life doesn’t look the way you think it should right now.
Just because you might have failed at something doesn’t mean you’ll never succeed. In fact, most people fail once or twice or even a hundred times before they finally see the fruits of their labor. Remember that every mistake is just another anecdote in your success story.
Just because you find it hard to get out of bed right now doesn’t mean you’ll always feel this way. Some days—weeks, months, years—are more difficult than others. And sometimes we must let ourselves feel through these rough patches before we’ll ever be able to move forward. You are not weak, and you are not hopeless—you are simply navigating through rough waters on the way to your oasis.
Just because you want to give up doesn’t mean you should—because it’s okay to pause, and it’s okay to rest, and it’s okay to take more time than you thought you’d need. But I hope you choose to keep going, even when it’s hard, because you’ve made it this far and you’re so much closer to getting to where you want to be than where you were before. As Kereen Gibson wrote, “Waiting, at the very least, can be inconvenient, but your intentions and goals are worth the patient effort it takes present you to build them for a wiser future you.” Please give yourself that grace.
Remember that what you’re going through right now doesn’t reflect you as a whole—this is just a slice of your life, a small piece of the entire puzzle. You will grow and thrive and heal. Trust that you’ll get there.
Be patient with yourself. Be compassionate. Give yourself the understanding you so freely give to others.
You are doing fine.
You are worth the wait.
You will be okay.
Next time you feel like you’re not doing well enough, remember these words by Arlene Ambrose: “It’s time to stop entertaining the doubts in your head. They’re lies. They do not define you. They do not have control of your mind. You do. It’s time to stop making a home for your doubts. It’s time to start living. You don’t need to know all the answers. Move forward in faith and the direction of your life will find you.”
What We’re Reading This Week 📖💛
“Some single people love being single; some are fairly ambivalent about it; others despise it. None of those postures are made easier when your way of life is implicitly and explicitly understood as a sort of cultural and financial backwater, to be avoided at all costs.” — Anne Helen Petersen
“If you can love her, then you can love someone that is struggling with the same thing, and maybe have a greater understanding of the pain they’re facing that is often out of their control.” — Zendaya
“Please, just be kinder to yourself. Give yourself the empathy you so deeply give others.” — Bianca Sparacino
““I’ve always thought of myself this way, as someone in perpetual state of searching, always slightly unnerved, on my toes, my shoulders tight by sides. It’s hard to be satiated, but it’s also beautiful to be hungry.” — Eric Eidelstein
“It was only when I began to tell my own story with my powers of language that I started creating a space where this real me could exist.” — Veronica Esposito

Let us leave you with this:
“It’s okay to struggle. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. And it’s okay to make mistakes. You’re still learning how to navigate this new path. It’s going to take time. And you’re allowed to give yourself that time. All you have to do is show up and try.
It’s always been enough before.
It will be enough this time, too.” — Daniell Koepke
You always have been and always will be enough 🌸
